WOW!

Simply WOW man!!

You've definitely come a long way from that D&B artist wanna be kid, this ismind blowing, I can't really think of anything to say since this is not quite my area (and since I feel like half mah brain is missing XD), but I'm just gonna say GREAT WORK!

And definitely keep it up, this is your thing man!

Johnny~

Quarl responds:

lol, dnb artist wanna be kid. We all have to start somewhere, right?

One of my favorites!

First of all lemme say I love the tittle of this track, how its so accurate and direct to its audience, this wasn't made for kids who just go around expecting to be blowned away during the first 10 seconds of a track by flashy sound effects and soulless generic tunes, you have to actually LISTEN to get into it and to really appreciate the soundscapes in it.

The vocals were awesome, I didn't quite understood what you did there though XD But definitely sounded sexey :P

My only complaint is that it feels like the track just ended... like that, it definitely lacks of resolution, that part (at the end) felt more like a build up to something, and then just suddenly "..." I was like wtf??? Is it buffering or something? Well I don't blame you man, it was probably the lack of time like in most cases (including mine), but I would definitely like to hear more of this, hope you finish it eventually :)

Best luck in the competition!

Johnny~

InvisibleObserver responds:

Thanks on the comment on the title. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm good at titling (it certainly doesn't feel like it when I'm doing it), I probably put a lot more time into it then some people. I think my friends probably get a second perspective on title names since they do usually relate to my life or mood in some way. That being said, I can't stand fluffy emotional song names that deal with the weather, space, or weird metaphors for describing girls. So I try to keep things ambiguous so to be varied in possible disambiguation.

As for this one in particular, you've certainly picked up on a double entendre present. :P

Vocals in short... took a small sample. Trimmed it, fit it to beat, mixed it in. Then exported it, put it in as a sample to be played and stretched around (just easier for me to process instead of having a million audio clips). Then autotuned it with some more mild mixing.

Track just ending... 2 weeks isn't enough time for me to fluff this out in its entirety. Lot of detail, and my computer is riding like 95% cpu usage when playing this. NGADM I've thought would be a good motivator to keep up producing speed, which I can use things from it for my album I'm working on, so it will be further completed and released.

Thanks for the comments and luck wishing.

Well it totally worked!!

Hahaha I was about to comment about how your track reminds me so much of Hans Zimmer and Jablonsky when i saw brokendeck's comment and your response LOL XD

Lemme begin by saying that Hans is my favorite movie composer of all time and just when I listened to those staccatto strings slowely building at 00:29 I literally jumped off my chair and said Dark Knight!!! XD And the low brass section starting at 00:42 remind me so much of Inception :D I got the chills, it hooked me!!

This is such a brilliant piece, sadly its a bit too short, I hope you expand on it in the future.

Having heard this b4 I would have made some classical cinematic orchestral piece for the competition, this was truly inspiring! One of the many great things about music, you can get so much inspiration by listening to other musicians.

Even if I don't make it to the next round (which is very probable), I'm glad I entered, otherwise I wouldn't have found about you... probably :)

Keep it up man! I want to see your name in credits of the next big-budget box office hit! :D

Johnny~

Breed responds:

Yeah it is a short piece. It was tailored for the commercial I link in the author comments. Probably won't expand it. I'd rather just write a new piece!

So true about the inspiration you get from listening to others.

Gimme 10 years before I hit the box office though. I can't even imagine the level of daunting that trying to score a job like that right now would produce.

Thanks for the kind words sir! GL!

Cheers!

Outstanding!

This is great!!

Let me be the first to congratulate you guys for your No. 1 Spot on the Weekly Top 5!!!

Definitely well deserved! Its been a time since I heard such quality on the Best of Week, you guys totally nailed it, my only (minor) complain would be the boring fade out of the track, but putting that aside, this deserves nothing less the a 10!

Keep up the good work, hope to listen to more from you soon.

NutronicUK responds:

Thanks alot Johnny :D

And before mydnite... there was F-777!

Nice man!

Really digging that analog bass you have going on in here, the groove and the overall feeling of the beat is great! Very danceable :D

This one somewhat reminds me of old school disco, idk why, it just does.
But then the piano comes in at 00:42 and I remember its good ol' F-777 :)

You somewhat always put your signature on everytrack you make and thats a big quality, one that I still need to work on myself :)

Technically speaking the track is perfectly neat, no mixing or EQing issues whatsoever, but I do scene some use of the overused Nexux VST in here and that surely compromises some of the track's integrity. (Particularly that synth that starts around 1:54).

I wont say "Don't use presents, make your own sounds" cause lets face it man, everyone knows you are a composer, not a sound technician, simply try to disguise them because Nexus uses a very distinguishable source wave sound for most of its presents so its pretty easy to tell you are using it, specially speaking about saw wave sounds and pads.

Overall its a very nice and enjoyable track, could have a bit more variation and I wouldn't say its something I have never heard b4, but it is definitely a good time man ;)

Good job!

I don't wanna affect your current score, so I'll rate a 5 don't worry ;)

Good luck with this and your future projects!

Johnny~

F-777 responds:

DANG IT nexus is recognisable still hehe. I tried masking it but i think
its just too solid of a VST to do that. Not very many sound making options
with nexus.

I did make the bass from scratch though which was a huge acomplisment for
me, i might not be known as a sound technician but over these last few months
iv really been expanding on that so im eventually going to delete nexus from my
computer completely hehe.

Thanks for the review! I really appreciate it man, honest oppinions and
good criticism! Hard to find reviews as good as this nowadays =).

Thank you!!!

Nice previews!

00:00 This one has quite a nice atmosphere a bit sad, a bit solemn, but Im not really sure on the direction you must take with this one, it could be a pretty cool intro for a Trance track, but it could also work as a full length ambient song, your call ( ;

00:20 NICE! I really like the D&B kinda bass I would really like to hear that on a full length Ambient/IDM track, i dont know if you're heading in that direction with this or just regular D&B but you totally should.

00:42 Chillaxing! :D Very short sample here, I cant really say much about it, but I quite like it!

00:57 This one has a nice Arabic feel, and pretty loungy like the last sample, I can definitely imagine some ppl in camels walking in the dessert lol XD

01:19 Another one! lol although I dont really see that much potential on this one, but its quite nice...

01:42 Groovy! My favorite so far, it has that classic discohouse feel to it, I really like the filtered percussion and that oscillating synth that is sort of playing the role of bass... Mixing could be improved, I detected some clipping at times, but as far as it goes, i love it :)

02:08 Woot!? Sudden mood change lol This one is a bit bizarre haha, but pretty interesting I guess.

02: 36 Same feel as the last one, although a bit creepier... I could definitely listen to this as a soundtrack for a movie or something, but not as a stand alone track, at least I wouldnt put something like this on my car lol XD

03:04 Ahhh yeah beach time ^^ Second favorite!!! Finish this b4 July 3rd please, I wanna take it to Cancun BD Oh maaan I love the guitar, do you play?

03:36 Not really a fan of this one, it seems like it doesnt know where to go, it has some dissonance which I'll suppose you threw there intentionally, and some really nice calm melodies, but I dont think they quite fit together...

04:08 Interesting, seems to me like the longest sample so far and probably the one I'll comment less about XD I just dont know what to say about this other than... weird lol and not very well mixed.

04:48 Another one of my favs, it starts out pretty ominous, but it turns out into a nice and relaxing track, again is that you on the guitar? Idk but nice samples and well mixed too ;)

05:36 Is quite nice too, Im diggin' the pads and bass combo at the beginning follow by some moar guitar and cool drum patters, I would suggest to follow that progressive direction, perhaps add some variations later on and build it into an awesometastic tune lol ;D

Well in summary I've found some really good material in here, as any good producer you work on multiple projects atst, but I would recommend you to just focus on the one you've started most recently (at least thats what I do) and go backwards from there, because the last project you started is probably the one you have the most interest on right now and the one you will more easily build on cause of that :)

But if you'd like to please a regular listener ;D FINISH 3:04!!! lol

Anyway I wish you luck with all your projects, hope you dont have any writers block or anything :S

And if you want some more feed back, just PM me. Anytime man :)

Johnny~

Buoy responds:

I guess I could do it reverse chronologically but yknow I just want to hear what people are most interested in around these parts. And also give some folks assurance that I'm not dead yet because I've been asked about that a bit too. I've only got a partial writers block in that I don't have the stamina to continue any songs I start ;) Thanks a lot for the feedback! I'm doing some stuff on the 3:04 thing since I got a lot of positive feedback on that, so that'll probably be my next submission! Unless I get distracted by the porn music competition that's going on in the audio forum now hahahahha

And yeah I play guitar

Interesting!

I'm digging this, it definitely has that ominous feeling, btw Im curious, what it that reverberating drum? Sounds like some form of bass synth to me, but Im not sure... hmm

Even on early stages it looks promising, cant wait to listen to the final product :)

BTW I'm also planning on finishing my project tonight :P lol

What about a lil friendly competition? Lets see who finishes first haha!

Let me know if you're up for it, although its much likely that ull win lols (check out my project and ull know why XD), but anyway, it would be fun :D

PM when finished please ^^

Johnny~

AshleyAlyse responds:

I'm glad you like it! :) Truth be told, I'm not entirely sure... I just got it out of the Cinematic Justice Combinator in Reason, hahaha.
Shame on me... I haven't finished this yetttt. XO
But I've been listening to your music and I've got to say that you are incredibly talented! I'm loving your music! :D
I will definitely PM you when I finish it! :)
Thank you so much for the review! :D

Is this the tune you wanted me to listen?

I hope it is cause its great!

This is very interesting, I'm digging this style a lot, reminds me of the american producer BT (Brian Transeau) ever heard of him?

He makes a lot of experimental/IDM tunes, you should check him out, ull probably enjoy his work, I would recommend his track 1.618 I think you'll find it... interesting, being short of words :)

Great job!

Johnny~

The-Cockenator responds:

Ty man really like your revive ;) well i will check it out ;)

This sounds sooo sweet!

First attempt and SUCCEDED! Well done I love darkish mysterious atmosphere at the beginning and middle part with those ambient sounds panning around my ears, so fckng sweet! :D

And the title suits it perfectly!

LOL I must admit though that that twist near the end caught me off guard XD That was unexpected but in a good way, although I wish you continued with EVEN more Dubstep badassery after that, lets hope this isn't the last time you work on this track, cause its got potencial man, I'm telling you, just make that final chorus a bit longer, give it a proper outro ending and you're on bussiness ;D

Added to favorites! Good Job : )

Johnny~

broove responds:

Yes, that noise may take you away from the music, but it was meant to be that way and it seemed right at the moment.
Will I continue working on this track? No, it's done!
Will I make another track with similar style? Probably yes!

Thanks for the review and a fave.

Wow!

Just WOW my friend! I totally love it! You are a very good piano player and composer man, I totally get that feeling from the story and its also a great story, did you think of it yourself? Or did you just based on it to write this piece?

Either way its beautiful and awesome atst!

Kings to you my friend!

Johnny~

BassTwister responds:

why thank you :) i had some major problems in my life and i lost many people i loved. so i expressed my feelings in a simple story. pretty much how i feel right now. Thank you once more :)
